Queen's-Waterloo Joint Program
The joint program is five years in duration, and facilitates completion of a BMath Honours or BCS Honours Co-op degree from the University of Waterloo and a BEd degree from Queen's University. The program prepares graduates to teach mathematics and a second subject (normally Computer Studies, Science-Biology, Science-Chemistry, or Science-Physics) in secondary schools in Ontario.
Bachelor of Education Requirements
Candidates must complete each of the following before graduating with a Bachelor of Education:
1. BMath or BCS Honours (Co-Op) degree from the University of Waterloo
2. Bachelor of Education program requirements
3. Five full-year (or equivalent) university courses in Mathematics if it is the first teaching subject. Note that if Computer Studies is the first teaching subject, then applicants require five full-year (or equivalent) courses in Computer Studies, and four full-year course (or equivalent) in Mathematics.

4. Four full-year (or equivalent) university courses in their second teaching subject: either Conputer Studies, Science - Biology, Science - Chemistry, Science - Physics, or Math (if Computer Studies is the first teaching subject).
5. Candidates who were admitted to the Bachelor of Education for September 2008 entry are required to complete a half-year university course in Anthropology, Psychology or Sociology before receiving the Bachelor of Education. Candidates who are admitted to the Bachelor of Education for September 2009 entry are required to have half-year university course in Developmental Psychology (or the equivalent), or a full-year university course in Introductory Psychology before receiving the Bachelor of Education.

Applying to Graduate from Queen's
Students who are registered in the Queen's-Waterloo Joint Program in Mathematics will apply to graduate from Queen's University in the same academic year they intend to graduate from University of Waterloo. Teacher candidates should check the sessional dates on the Queen's Faculty of Education website to determine when they must apply to receive their degree from Queen's; normally the application is available from November to January.
