TEACH Project Application Form 2008 (79 KB WORD)
Applications due: June 16, 2008
Graduate Studies and Bureau of Research, Rm. A106
Terms of Reference [Nov. 9, 2004]
Purpose
TEACH is designed to encourage faculty to study and to enhance their teaching practice in the preservice program. Funding will be provided for projects such as action research and applied research to be conducted by tenure stream and adjunct faculty, as well as graduate teaching fellows and staff with teaching responsibilities. Applications are invited from individuals and small groups. So that the maximum number of projects may be funded, each researcher may submit only one application.
All projects supported by TEACH will contribute directly to the Faculty’s commitment to “supporting and recreating teaching and learning through research.” These projects are intended to contribute to the quality of our teacher education program and may enhance our relationship with associate schools.
Eligibility
Applicants must satisfy one of the following criteria:
- Hold a Tenure-track/Continuing appointment
- Hold a Tenured/Continuing appointment
- Hold a Continuing Adjunct appointment
- Hold a Renewable Adjunct appointment
- Hold an Adjunct 1 appointment
- Hold a Graduate Teaching Fellow (GTF) appointment
Note: Although teacher candidates, classroom teachers, and graduate students (who do not hold a GTF) may have significant involvement in projects, full responsibility for project planning, development, and management lies with individuals who satisfy one of the above criteria and are substantially involved in all aspects of the project.
Call for Proposals
Applications are due June 12, 2008, Graduate Studies and Bureau of Research, A106.
Funding
TEACH project budgets may range from a few hundred dollars to $3,000. Funds may be used for any reasonable expenses, including the following:
- graduate research assistants;
- purchase of books and teaching materials;
- software employed by the project;
- transportation/travel costs for project purposes;
- release time for teachers;
- photocopying, duplicating, telephone, and other incidental expenses;
Funds are to be used in the fiscal year the award is made, and will not be used for faculty release time. The Adjudication Committee will not consider applications for expenses already incurred. Funds not used within the fiscal year of the award will be returned.
In keeping with Queen's policy, resources purchased with TEACH funds will remain the property of the University. (In projects involving collaboration with schools, arrangements may be made for resource sharing on a case-by-case basis.)
All payments should be consistent with current Faculty of Education policies (e.g., travel by automobile) and University policies (e.g., travel by rail, bus, or airplane; limitations on graduate student research assistants' time commitments). Payments to research assistants should be at a rate appropriate for their qualifications. In the case where there are more proposals than can be funded, proposals that contain responses to the question about partial support will be given priority.
