Billet Board
Welcome to the Faculty of Education Accommodation Billet Board.
Seeking Accommodation
This service is provided as a convenience for Faculty of Education students and is intended for short term accommodation postings suitable for on-campus weeks. Please note that some landlords are also willing to rent room(s) during the practicum teaching blocks.
List a Property
If you list your property it will be accessible on our web-site for public access.
Education students who complete their practice teaching outside of the Kingston area will need short-term accommodation in Kingston at various points in the year while they are attending Education classes. We invite your participation in accommodating these students on a relatively short-term basis (weekly and/or monthly for approximately eight months at various points in the year). If you would like to rent your room on a long-term basis (continuously for more than eight months), please contact the Queen's Accommodation Listing Service.Would you consider opening your home to one or more of our students for any of the following periods of time?
Fall Term Residency (On-Campus Sessions)
All students will be on campus from 2 September to 3 October 2008, and again from 3 November to 21 November 2008.
Winter Term Residency (On-Campus Sessions)
All students will be on campus from 5 January to 13 February 2009, and again from 13 to 30 April 2009.
Please note: Depending on practicum teaching placements, students may also request extended residency for one or more of the practicum teaching blocks: 6 October to 31 October 2008, 24 November to 19 December 2008, 16 February to 13 March 2009, and 23 March to 9 April 2009.
Summer Session
In addition, participants in Continuing Teacher Education courses will need accommodation between 2 and 31 July 2008, and participants in the Principals' Qualification Program will need accommodation between 5 August and 15 August 2008.
Conditions for billeting will vary from one situation to another. You may wish to offer a bed and breakfast arrangement, room with full board, or room without meals. Education students will, of course, expect to pay the going rate for such accommodation. Last year, on average, the price ranged from $110.00 to $140.00 per week or from $400.00 to $550.00 per month.
We would be grateful for any assistance you can give in providing the participants of this program with a home away from home. All you need do is fill in the on-line registration form and click on the "Save Record" button. Interested students will take the initiative to contact you directly.
Please note that on 15 April 2009, all of the listings on the education billet board will be removed and the board will be updated for the next academic year. If you would like to post your room(s) for the 2009-2010 academic year, list your property on or after 16 April 2009.
